History:
I began my martial arts journey training in the sport version of taekwondo under a school based in Sydney’s Hills District. After 3 years of training, I received my first dan black belt but left not long after, having felt that my skills were lacking in many areas. I was keen to learn more about the martial art and self-defense aspect of taekwondo and so I searched out and trialed various martial art schools to try and complement what I had already learnt.
When I discovered Hwarangdo, I knew this was the right place for me. Being a black belt was not the end of the road but the beginning of a new journey. What sets the school apart from many others is the caring factor that instructors show towards their students and the ability to explain techniques in a way that not only engages their interest but also helps build their level of self-confidence. This way everyone benefits.
For myself, the training was hard to begin with and it took some time for my body to adjust to the different movements. However, the rewards eventually paid off and over time I became both physically and mentally stronger.
